Our Story

Our Bud Brothers Jerky was founded on my brothers traditional Australian jerky recipe, hence why we are called Bud Brothers. After years of making Jerky as a hobby, eventually my mates (and you know who you are), were so impressed with the flavours in our family recipe, they wanted more…

To make more, would take us on a journey to find the best suited property to make Bud Brothers Jerky from, build a commercial Kitchen to meet all the necessary Safe Food (QLD) requirements, not to mention a whole host of other government requirements we met along the way.

We have settled in Tully Heads, Far North Queensland, where our hand crafted, small batch Beef Jerky is now made. We source our ingredients locally here in FNQ, procurement matters with local businesses. We can now say our ingredients are 99% Australian, 100% Aussie made, packaged and 100% sourced in Australia.

Needless to say, our Tully Heads and Tropical North Queenslanders are loving having Bud Brothers Jerky as a local.

After experimenting and fine tuning the recipe, today we have Hand Crafted by Bud Brothers Jerky, The Original Batch.

A word from Scotty

Hi, I’m Scott and I’m a Jerkaholic.

My addiction started quite some time ago.

My search for the ultimate jerky was insatiable. This drove me to make my own jerky batch myself. This way, I would be able to enjoy jerky anytime.

After experimenting and fine tuning the recipe, today we have Hand Crafted by Bud Brothers Jerky, The Original Batch.

My journey all started approximately 20 years ago, I was having a beer in Dampier WA and was offered a biltong stogy, this was quickly consumed with another few beers.

It wasn’t long before I got my first dehydrator, a little round plastic breville unit, (since passed down to my daughter) every weekend I experimented with different recipes, and each batch got better and better..

My passion for fine food has been developed over 40 years, I have approximately 20 years experience in the food industry, this knowledge and understanding is what has driven me to make the ultimate jerky. My obsession has been a hobby for the past 20 odd years. Last year I decided to take my hobby to the next level/ up a notch

I now have a purpose built small scale Jerky processing facility on our property in Tully Heads Tropical North Queensland. On the 21st May this year (2021) I received my formal Qld safe food accreditation (126323000) by email, wow, what a day and what a journey its been.

My mission is to get a high quality product direct to the jerky lovers of Australia.
